Pottery Place is a walk-in studio fully equipped with everything you need to make a functional ceramic work of art. Non-artistic painters as well as seasoned artists can easily make a beautiful piece even if they have never done ceramics before.

Using nontoxic under glazes, painters draw, paint, stamp or stencil on designs in about 1 1/2 -2 hours.  We dip pieces in a clear over glaze and fire them in our kilns for pick-up in about a week. If you're only in Alexandria for a short visit, pieces can be safely mailed at a reasonable charge, or finished next day at an extra charge.

The cost of a visit to our studio is simple. There is a low $7.00 Studio Fee charged to each painter. This includes the paints, instructions and firing of all items painted in one sitting. The price of your piece(s) is added. Most pieces are under $10, ornaments for $4, and the most expensive items are under $45. If you need to come back and finish a design, a studio fee will be charged for each visit. You can stay as long as you like, and use as many colors as you like.

We are very kid-friendly and encourage families to come and enjoy a painting experience together. If multiple kids share a painting project for a parent or grandparent, a maximum of 1 1/2 fees will be charged depending on the complexity of the project. There is no charge for adults to help a child with painting.
